9/28/18 (DAY 2) – ARRIVE ROME/ASSISI/TUSCANY: We arrive in Rome airport and are greeted by our Tour Director. Shortly afterwards, depart and start your journey toward Tuscany. Pause to visit Assisi, famed as the birthplace of Italy’s Catholic Patron Saint, St. Francis of Assisi, the sleepy little town documents all the highs and lows of his life. Enjoy a walking tour, including Santa Chiara and San Francesco Basilicas. Onwards to Villa Casagrande, located in Figline Valdarno. This evening enjoy dinner in the villa. (D)

9/29/18 (DAY 3) – FLORENCE: This morning we will have breakfast at the Villa and then we are off to the city center of Florence. We will start with a walking guided tour of Florence and see the majestic Duomo that was built in 1296 along with Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Baptistery with it’s renowned “Gates of Paradise” doors. We will follow the medieval streets of the most striking square in Florence, Piazza della Signoria, the home of Santa Croce Church and the final resting place of Michelangelo. This afternoon you are free to explore Florence at your own pace. Stroll down cobblestone lanes, through majestic squares and across ancient bridges. Florence offers the largest number of historical buildings and works of art in Italy, as well as several world-class museums. You might like to do a little leather, gold or clothing shopping near Ponte Vecchio. Later, return to the Villa for overnight.  (B)

9/30/18 (DAY 4) – EXCURSION TO PISA & SIENA: After breakfast at the Villa, depart for Pisa. Visit Piazza dei Miracoli to find the celebrated Leaning Tower, now the best known building (no entrance fees included). We will also see the beautiful Cathedral and Baptistery.  Afterwards, continue to Siena. Enjoy a half-day guided tour of this unique city with the red of the Piazza del Campo – with an alchemy geometry of the Piazza, suggestively neo-Gothic and cathartic – commanded by the Duomo and surrounded by narrow streets and alleys. Sweet-smelling Trattorias, the sounds of the artisans and spouting fountains; Fontebrande and the mystery of the Diana, a famous river underneath Siena. These are the reasons why Siena opens its heart more than any other place, as the famous inscription reads on the Porta di Camollia.  Enjoy Dinner at a local restaurant in Siena and then head back to the Villa for Overnight. (B/D)

10/1/18 (DAY 5) – SAN GIMIGNANO AND COOKING CLASS: After breakfast at the Villa, we will depart for San Gimignano. On arrival, enjoy a guided tour. The towered silhouette of San Gimignano rising from the hills of the Upper Elsa Valley, facing the land of Volterra and positioned right on one of the most important stretches of the medieval Via Francigena, is famous all over the world. A similar renown can also be claimed by its Vernaccia wine, recently awarded the D.O.C.G., the highest acknowledgement and guarantee for quality in Italian oenology. Enjoy some free time before departing for Castello di Oliveto for a cooking class and wine tasting. Later, return to the Villa for overnight. (B/D)

10/3/18 (DAY 7) – ROME/SORRENTO: After breakfast at the hotel, depart Rome and head South on the “Highway of the Sun” towards Sorrento. Along the highway you will be able to see the Abbey of Montecassino, famous for the battle and its compete destruction which happened during the Second World War. Arrival in Sorrento, a charming town within the Sorrentine Peninsula famous for the cultivation of oranges, lemons and olives. In the afternoon enjoy an orientation walking tour of Sorrento with an escort, with a visit to a Limoncello shop for a taste of this traditional liqueur. Dinner on your own and overnight in Sorrento. (B)

10/4/18 (DAY 8) – AMALFI COAST: Enjoy breakfast before departing on a full day excursion by boat along the Amalfi Coast. This boat excursion is an exclusive and peaceful way to experience the Amalfi coast.  Departing from Sorrento, you will cruise along wonderful beaches and have the opportunity to enjoy the blue water. Arrive in Positano where you will have free time to visit the picturesque village with very peculiar street and characteristic local shops. Enjoy a light lunch at a local restaurant before boarding the boat and cruising to the town of Amalfi. Stop at Conca dei Marini where we will visit “Grotto dello Smeraldo – the Emerald Cave”. It was named after the characteristic green light inside the cave. It is caused by natural sunlight from outside which enters the cave through an underground passage, which connects the salt water lake in the huge chamber with the sea outside. The water filters the sunlight and only green wave lengths reach the cave. Enjoy a wooden boat ride around the Grotto. Afterwards, a quick stop at the Piccadilly Factory where you can see handmade Italian Ceramics. Our tour by boat ends with the arrival in Amalfi.  Amalfi is full of steps and to arrive to the Cattedrale di S.Andrea, there is a long way with 57 steps. Each street hides a square, where in the past people used to sell merchandise. Later, return to Sorrento by motor coach. You are free to enjoy dinner on your own.

10/5/18 (DAY 9) – ISLE OF CAPRI: After breakfast, transfer to the Port of Sorrento where we catch a hydrofoil that whisks us over to the Isle of Capri, the magical and colorful island which has been a favorite resort destination since the time of the Roman Republic. Visit the lovely Anacapri and explore the charming shops and chic boutiques as you stroll the island’s narrow streets. Continue to see “La Piazzetta”, the social heart of the island, home to the international jet set, on your way to the open-air Gardens of Augustus, from where you will appreciate breath-taking view of the famous Faraglioni rocks. Later, return to Sorrento where you will be free to enjoy dinner on your own. (B)
